Mini DVD drive question

When I put an optical disc into my new Mini, I have to push it in virtually all the way before the drive notices it. Is that normal? I've never seen a slot-load drive behave like this before, including several other Macs. The drives always pick the disc up well before it is halfway in.

So, has anybody else ever stuck a disc in the drive? How does yours work?

That's the way my G4 and Intel mini drives work.

Thanks. Got the same answer from my cousin today. Didn't even realize it, but he just bought a new iMac.
