Can I get some advice about the minimum requirements for generating 1080i from a PC ??

I have a spare Celeron 550, 6 gig drive etc. What's the least expensive video card to buy (and how much memory) ??? and do they have S-video out ??

Are there any limitations with a processor this comparatively slow ??

Are any of the cheap Chinese TV tuner cards anygood ?? and which one ??

Is the picture quality at 576i out of the TV out socket on the video card as good as the VGA out at the same resolution and interlace ?? (my CRT projector at the moment will only do 576i and I don't want to inadvertantly blow it up by stuffing 32Khz into it. I'll get a better one soon).

Is this going to be better than my Hollywood Plus card at 576i ???

Hi Graham,

I don't know how far into HTPC you are, but just in case you missed this...

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...threadid=31225

it pretty much gives indications what is required... if you have read that then just ignor this. IMO your specs seem a little light on... but probbaly will do the job

I think the least expensive graphics card that will do the job could be the radeon 7000. Some people use it and are happy with it.

there dosn't seem to be a big diff in price for tunercards in Aus, but if you do get one i would check that it is compatable with dscaler.

I'll leave the rest, at least above i have some idea ...regards
