I have a set of 753's with a 75C... I have had the 753 since collage about 10 years and have been very happy with them... Recently I have been getting the urge to change something in my HT set up and the speakers are the oldest component... So to my qu:


Have speakers improved significantly to warrant a change staying with a ceiling of $1000 for the main speakers?

The answer is yes and no

I am still using 75 seres but if you want to update, there are plenty out there

75s are pretty nice - I still like mine - if yours still work, put the money into something else - dvdr, ht box, towards a cute little lcd ---at least that's what I'm doing.

I would have to say that if you are planning on sticking with 2-channel and you like the sound of your current speakers then $1000 will not give you that much of an upgrade (if any).


If you are planning on going multi-channel though, you will have difficulty finding speakers that voice-match your current 753's and I would suggest spending the money on a good center and surrounds with the intent of buying matching mains in the near future when funds allow.
