Does anyone still use this receiver? If yes, do you notice any signal drop like low from 40 to 50? My receiver used to get 80+ signal on all transponder but now only 40 to 50 on most transponder, a few transponder still get 90+. Please help.

I use a clone, the Hughes HIRD-E8 and don't have any problems. The model does run very warm and symptoms you describe I believe are attributed to long term affects of the heat. There should be lots of information here on problems with that model which is also the same as the Hughes HIRD-E86, Toshiba DST-3000 and Mitsubishi HD5 among other model numbers.


It is also possible your dish has gotten out of alignment or you have a cabling problem.

I know my dish and cable are ok because I use Directv D10 receive to test the same cable (disconnect from Mits receiver and connect to D10) and the signal is 80+ while the Mits is 40+ on the same transponder and same satellite 101).

I am experiencing the EXACT same problem as you. I was so confused, same thing, pulled out eh reciever tested with another, transponders read the right signal.

Guess its broke Gonna try and see if AMEX can us out with their "doubling" of the manufacturers warranty....
