Mits WS-65813 bright spot issue

I already posted this on the Mits CRT Tweaks thread, but I figured that more people would see it and I would have a better chance of finding a solution to the problem if I started a new thread.

My WS-65813 has a bright spot in the middle of the screen that is driving me crazy. It is about the size of a silver dollar, and is only visible when the middle portion of the screen is a light, solid color (like a shot of the sky, a field of grass, or a white wall). When sitting on the floor in front of the TV it is most noticeable, and the further up I get the harder it is to see. Even when I am sitting with my head directly across from the center of the screen, in what is supposed to be the optimum viewing angle, I can still see it occasionally.

Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a fix for it? I have a 5-year warranty, if it is something that a service tech could fix.

I notice the same thing on my 55813. It's more noticable when I'm standing up and I walk up to the TV. It's like it starts in the middle as a point and then fans out. My Pioneer didn't have it so when I started noticing this I went back to sound advice and looked at all their floor models and all of them had it so I just figured it was normal with this TV. I don't notice much if any when viewing it in my normal position but if I look for it I will see it. This set is going back anyway because I have bad crt's in it and waiting for the Samsung 74 series to come out so I can decide which DLP to get.
I read an old Sound & Vision review and they noticed it on the 55813. How does adjusting contrast affect the hot spot?
I tried adjusting the contrast level and it didn't help at all. I think that setting the color temp to medium helped a little bit, but my eyes are tired and they might be playing tricks on me.

I would include a pic of this blemish, but it is almost impossible to see when the image is paused. It is when the screen pans across a football field or a bright blue sky, that it really illuminates.
I haven't seen this problem on my 55813 and hopefully I won't see it, but even if I did it couldn't possibly be worst the seeing rainbows and screen door effect.
I believe this would be reduced with a proper professional calibration. When you look at the convergence grid, does it seem to be sharply focused in the middle and out of focus on the edges?
I pulled up the grid and did in fact see that the picture is slightly sharper in the middle than it is on the edges. I plan on having it ISF calibrated in January, and I sure do hope it solves the problem.
Make sure your ISF can perform full electrical and mechanical focus. Some ISFs only calibrate contrast, brightness, gray scale, and color decoding.

The following folks are the absolute best calibrators for your set:

I'm on my second Mits DLP (62725) TV with spot problems. The first TV had two small (about 1 inch in diameter) spots only visible on color scenes like a blue sky, or red or green background. That problem was diagnosed as finger prints on the mirrors inside the TV that project the picture onto the screen. When the tech cleaned the mirrors however he messed up the alignement and couldn't get it right so they replaced it. The second TV (one I have now) was delivered yesterday and has a large (9-12 inches long) bright spot that is only visible on certain dark screen scenes. I don't know what the problem is with this yet and will call a tech on Monday. I've read in other posts of people having problems with light leaking through into the chamber where the mirrors reflect the picture onto the screen and that may be what's causing this problem.

Just thought I'd throw in my experience so far.
