Anyone have this setup or maybe knows about the Mitsu1100/2000 capability regarding this?

I'm trying to play back a tape recorded from copy-once source (the only copy), which should be now marked as "copy never" on-tape.

Using Mitsu1100 connected via firewire to T165, with analog RGB (Dsub15) connector used for output at 1080i.

All I get is black screen as soon as tape starts playing. Even the DVHS control menu disappears, but its there as I can blindly use the transport controls (left/right) to move the cursor and pause tape, at which point the black screen comes back up with the DVHS control menu.

I don't have any HDCP-capable displays, and connecting DVI out to a standard monitor works until I start playing the copy-never tape (and as soon as it starts, screen is filled with random snow - I'm guessing that's HDCP at work.

So my question is - does T165 + Mitsu 1100 support this configuration? I think copy-never requires DTCP's Full AKE support - Mitsu doesn't play D_Theater, so maybe they never bothered implementing Full AKE? Can someone with this equipment confirm/deny this?

Is it because I'm using analog out? Do I need to connect through HDCP_enabled DVI monitor? I can try to connect to composite or something, I just want to "see" tape playing through 1394 to the receiver - it doesn't have to be High-Definition.

Any hints, thanks!

I have always had the same problem with tapes recorded from 5c "copy once" sources using the t165 for playthrough from the Mits. Using the DVI output from the t165 made no difference for me.
