mitsu 52527 dlp, cablecard and firewire thoughtpout?

i'll admit that i didn't do any research before buying this tv... my wife and i were moving into a new house and went to the store to shop for appliances.. only after spending almost 10 large on everything you need for a new house (fridge, washer/drier this list can get long) did we think of a new tv for the living room... the salesman (already happy with the commission he got) recommended that we pick up a just returned open box, which had the mitsu 52527 still neatly packaged... we picked up the tv for a great price (with full waranty etc) that was south of a grand, way south of a grand.

as it turns out it's a pretty [email protected] tv... lot's of features, inputs etc... some of which i still don't understand, especially their capabilites.

for example... i want to try an experiment and hook up the tv via cablecard, instead of the set top box. the point here is to be able to record hd content through the firewire port. i don't have a digital vcr, but i'm building a sage pvr, and was hoping that it's possible to make this work... the mitsu manual says that cablecard automatically descrambles the cableco's signal, so i should be able to get an unencrypted feed for something like hbo-hd or any other hd channel that's currently in my lineup/subcription package. what i'd like to know if with this setup it's possible to record through firewire port on the tv to a homebrew pvr?

thanks.

might try this in the HD Recorder section. they have a Sticky very large thread about getting firewire into a computer.

I know you should be able to get local ota digital channels through the mits and out by firewire into a Dvhs deck like the mits 1100 or 2000.
