Welp, I have the HTB lens on it's way, a 120" wide piece of Designer White Laminate on it's way, and I'm hoping to score an SR805 locally...so I guess I'll report my results when I get all the parts in place and hopefully figure this out myself. It sounds like this could be a hell of a budget 2.37:1 setup!

Even though I am not using HTB lens, HC5500 has really significantly recessed lens and it makes you difficult to use any type of anamorphic lens. So, I decided to remove the lens housing from the body. I asked Mitsubishi to do it. By doing so, you can reduce the recession by a couple of cm (or half inch or more). But, I heard from HTB previously when I contacted them, they told me that they have not heard any complaint on the compatibility of their lens with HC5500. So, it will work hopefully, but if it does not work, you may consider to remove the lens housing. Once removed, there is a hole around the lens and the body where the dust will come into the PJ. So, I sealed the hole with black masking paper tape. It looks ugly but... no other choice for me. good luck.

That is exactly what I am afraid of. It is a *very* recessed lens, and I'm afraid I'll get vignetting unless I trim or remove that plastic bezel around the lens.

Just an update. I've had my Home Theater Brothers Anamorphic lens since Saturday Morning. Spent several hours a day for the past two days trying to make this lens work with my HC5500.

It can work, but as ddnathan said, it's going to require removing the bezel around the projector lens to get the HTB lens up close without any vignetting.

It looks like a great product, just not working with my projector.

So I guess I'm just going to have to *deal* with a 124" diagnal 16:9 screen. LOL

I have an HC5500 too and I'm doing a DIY lens with a prism set that i purchased but i'm realizing that ultimately i'm having exactly the issue that is being described here...the bezel is in the way.

Does anyone have a picture of the bezel removed or could you at least describe what exactly you removed and how you did it so i could do so w/o destroying my expensive new projector ?
