Mitsubishi CRT's

I don't think I have ever seen a post about Mitsubishi CRT's on here. We have a couple of Mitsubishi VS-1280's. Does anyone have expirience with these? It seems like it would be a great projector, but I have no idea where to get a remote or replacement parts. Ideas?????

Mitsubishi FP sets seem to be rather rare, obviously.

However, they do make a fine RPTV and some of their larger models

have 9" CRTs inside.

I have some experience with Mitsu RPTVs. Not a lot, but enough to be

dangerous. They're good machines.

I would go so far as to guess that maybe Mitsubishi uses the same tubes

from their RPTVs in their FP units. If so, tube availability at least should be

excellent.

Matt,

The 1280 and 1281 are supposedly excellent machines. If you search the archives here you will find some posts about them. I cannot remember who it was but there was one forum member who was something of an expert in these. The problem with them is that they are fairly rare so support is non-existent and parts are difficult to find. That seems to be their undoing.

Troy (pcCinema) has one and always chimes in on Mitsu questions.
Drew Pachard has one in his theater now and knows where to get the remotes.
Well, I could use a post from Drew then couldn't I?
I have a VS-1281. Mitsubishi sells the remotes for around 135.00. I downloaded a ccf file for my remote.

Matt,

Universal Remotes, who make the MX-700 (which I use) and the MX-800 (which is RF) has the VS-1280 and VS-1281 in there standard database.

Thanks Bruce!
You too Ron!
Have a good friend whose Dad got "swapped" into a 1281 by an AV un-professional. It seems that this house, w a very swanky N Dallas address,

already had a CRT up prior to its second owners purchase.

It was removed by this unscrupulous installer & the 1281 put up in its place. Performance wise I can't tell you a thing about it since for the last 10 years it has never been fed

a signal by anything other than the S-video cable this jerk ran to it. Was shocked to see that it is an LC Machine capable of 1600 X 1200 resolution. Think the owners would be shocked as well if we could find someone who knows anything about setting it up properly.
Hello

I have a service and installation manual for the machine.Convergence setup is like a nec XG.

Point convergence is on board and very stabile. The projector is in the same range than a XG 110 LC and built like a tank

So this PJ is an all Mitsubishi effort and does not share a chassis or electronics w any other brand CRT? What an orphaned project.
My first machine was a vs-1281. It is very easy to setup. Anyone with crt experience can achieve an acceptable picture in a few hours.

Yes, it is all or nearly all Mitsubishi. Cannot remember about the tubes, but as I recall even the lenses are Mits. You are right they are in essence orphans. When they work they are wonderful sets and built like tanks but when when something goes wrong you don't have the same support as Sony, Barco, Ehome, Nec and Ampro.
