I briefly had an Infocus 4805 but sold it because the rainbows drove me nuts. I am again thinking about getting a projector and the HD1000U is on my short list. However I am concerned that I will see rainbows with this PJ like the 4805.

My question has anyone else seen both units, seen rainbows on the 4805 but not on the HD1000U? It seems that since they have the same wheel speed they should be fairly similar in this regard but I'm hoping against hope that I'm wrong because I really want to be able to use a DLP PJ.

Thanks!

I had an X1 I seen rainbows. I've seen a rainbow on the hd1000 but its reduced I'd say by at least 98%. I'm not sure I've ever seen one while I was watching something. Rainbows on the X1 were easy to see, with time that reduced when you adjust to a large screen. But now I have to hunt for them with test patterns.

I have a Sharp X10 DLP and I will see the random rainbow here and there.

With my Mits 1000...I don't believe I can recall seeing a single rainbow.

I had an 4805 and occasionally saw rainbows. I've since upgraded to a 1000u and very seldom see them. Like another member said, mostly it happens when viewing test patterns.

I should mention, that I only upgraded for the native 720p resolution. Other than that, I was very happy with the 4805.

IMO, if your trying to avoid rainbows at all cost the 1000u is not for you. You may need to find a pj with an 6x or 8x color wheel.

Good luck.

About three weeks after I had my HD1000, I started seeing RBE like crazy. It was so bad I would get headaches. After another couple weeks, I adjusted to the point I only saw them on rare occasions. Six months later, I can't remember the last time I saw a rainbow.

Those two weeks were murder though...

I have the HD1000 and I have to look for rainbows to see them.

If it is a high contrast scene between black and white and I move my eyes, head around the screen then I can see them.

Like I said I have to look for them.

Agreed. I really have to work hard to find them on this PJ. About the only time I occasionally notice them is while playing RFOM (a video game) on the PS3, other than that I never notice them when casually viewing video.
