Hi, I recently purchased a Mitsubishi vs1280. I'm having trouble setting the convergence on it. The horizontal comes in fine. The vertical is were my problem starts. It seems that the red and blue are adjusted off the green and the blue is left of the green and red is right of the green and I can't get them to meet in the middle. I also have not been able to locate the user/setup manual for this. Mitsubishi no longer offers it for sale. I will gladly pay someone for a copy.

Thanks...

Unfortunately I cannot help you much. The Mits. VS1280 is reputed to be an excellent projector unfortunately there are not too many of them around. Only a couple people on this forum know much about them. Unlike Barco, Electrohome, NEC and Sony there isn't a lot of "aftermarket" support for them. The manuls for the these things are hard to get you hands on. The only thing I can suggest is click on the Archives link at the top of this page and search on vs1280 and vs1281 they are both very similiar. You will find some posts from the few people that know much about them (I am not sure they frequent these forums much any more). You can try PM'ing those members for more information.

I hope you didn't pay much for it, as if it truly has a problem it is probably going to be a paper weight as parts are just not available.

Hi guys,

Wow, I really hate seeing posts that refer to the Mits as a "paperweight" :)

I have had 4 of these, 2 sold and 2 left here to sell.......

In my experience, these are VERY well built machines with excellent performance. True, they are nowhere near as popular or plentiful as a Marquee/Barco/PG or XG/Sony 12XX, G or D series.......

All 4 of these have been very reliable for me. I have one on the ceiling at the moment....

As for breakdowns, spares(cards, etc....) may be hard to find, but anything electronic can be fixed......

Blah Blah Blah......

Highflynfun, I'll PM you some things that may help.......As with all crt's....It's in the setup!

Thanks Secstate and Drew!

Secstate, I did look thru the archives and found a guy that is going to make a copy of the 1280 owners/install manuals. I also saw that Drew had some interest in the Mitsubishi's in some older posts.

Drew. I'm looking forward to the PM. Thanks for taking the time to help.

My 1280 has no detectable burns and seems to have a nice picture if you look past the three images on the screen. I have a tsu3000 pronto remote. Any advice will be gladly accepted and very much appreciated. I have about 500 tied up in it so far. Is that too much? I wish I had known about AVSforum before the purchase. Anyway, it seems like it's a nice unit, just scarce on support and parts. Mitsu Electronics was no help at all. I did find out that Mitsubishi was supposed to supply parts for these units until Dec. of 2003.

Thanks,

Randy

Great projectors, fantastic image... I have one also.

It's just a shame there aren't more around.

Drew, you're selling all yours? Got any with a perfect green tube? How much? Pm me.

hiflynfun: Just one new tube costs $500. I'm thinking you did ok.

I had a mistu vs-1250 I ran for 8 years or so. It was 1/4 way thru its 3rd set of tubes when I got it. No remote, no em, stand on a ladder with a plastic tweaker adjusting dozens of pots to set up. Real work horse though, probably was in service for 13 years. It should live again, I need to chase down a problem in the vertical deflection of the red channel.
