Hi Everyone,

Let me start by stating that I've owned an Optoma HD70 FP for over a year now and only ocassionally see rainbows, really I can see them when I want to or ignore them when I choose. That said I recently purchased the WD-73735 DLP and am seeing them regularly, and unfortunately I am unable to totally ignore them. I watched the set in CC and BB for an hour or more and couldn't see them when I tried. I watched first 40 minutes of The Dark Night last night and noticed them 3 times, so it's not so bad that I'll return the set, but I'd still like to be able to "turn them off" like I can with the Optoma. I have already calibrated the set to AVIA, so the brightness is down from defaults. Can anyone recommend anything else to try to reduce the RBE on this set?

Thanks,

Thomas

I have the 73735 as well and never noticed the RBE before I bought this set. I've heard it's more pronounced on the older generation DLP TVs so it caught me a little off guard the first time I saw it. It seems to be most apparent with dark movie material. I see them more if my eyes are tired.

I used to ave a Mitsubishi wd-65732 and I could see rainbows from time to time ad I would consider it a let down. now I have a Mitsubishi wd-65835 and haven't ever seen even one rainbow after over 2000 hrs on the set. I wonder whats the difference between your set and mine. I would assume they have the same color wheel. as odd as it sounds, just keep in mind that the key to not seeing rainbows is to not look for them. after all, its just a trick of the mind.
