This happened three times already.

When I'm watching movies, it's totally fine.

Normally after I turn it off, it usually goes into stand-by mode or something. After about 1 minute it shuts off completely (no noise, no lights blinking).

However on a few occasions it would not shut off. I would come into the room a few minutes later and find the fans in the TV working, and the timer light on the front panel blinking. Then the fans would stop and light go off... and in several seconds the TV would "click" (just like when I turn it on) and both fan and the timer light would go back on. And they would keep switching on and off sequentially until I run out of nerve and unplug the power from the wall and plug it back in (after which it goes into "timer" mode once again and then permanently shuts off). During this period the TV is unresponsive to the RC... eg after I hit "power" button it doesn't display logo or shut off. It just keeps its blinking and fan blowing business.

I'm assuming minor power fluctuations (although I thought TVs could handle them alright?) or the need for extra time to cool down?

Any other ideas

Ok, title fixed. It's WD-73C8. The TV hasn't been able to shut down since yesterday on several tries. It just keeps restarting (fans) every 30 seconds or so. I have to unplug it after watching it.
