Mixing B&W 603 S2's with HTM 71 S2's?

1094 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Mr.SoftDome
About the pull the trigger on B&W's and a bit stuck on the HTM6 vs the HTM 71s2. Mainly if I bought the bigger three way center would it A) Cause any challenges with LR B) be worth the price difference.

Ultimately I might need to place the speaker in a cabinet where space might be the ultimate factor, but if anyone has this combo love to hear about it.

I'd definitely pay more for a 3 way, but imo you do NOT have to buy one from B&W just to "match" your mains. The only way to get a REAL "match" is to use a vertically aligned speaker identical to your mains anyhow. Here's a running tally of all the folks on here who've had excellent results using centers from different brands than their mains:

If you need a 3 way with a pretty cabinet, the Polk 706C can be had on Amazon for 70% off its ludicrous retail price.

I wouldn't worry about mixing series numbers when it's the same brand.
Stay with Bowers and yes if you can I’d go 7 series center. I have that center with 702 S2 and I’m thinking of keeping the 702s as there are awesome but need real juice to be their best and I may move to the Diamond center and 702s.

I won’t comment on the in cabinet scenario as I don’t know. For me I’d rather hang my display but I know many can’t.

I will make up my mind selling that center in a few days but it’s white. Mint. If interested. But I really need to decide if I’m going to spend to move to Diamond center.

Even if I don’t I wouldn’t be afraid to move to the larger 7 series center if I were you.
