Hi all,

Basement finishing project is a little more than 1/2 way finished, so I'm starting to investigate seating. Looks like I should have done this earlier....

My plan is to have two rows of seats - 4 in the back on a riser, and 3 in the front. My riser is already built, and I now see that it is probably too shallow to handle recliners (4 feet deep). I am now thinking of putting standard "stadium" seats in the back row, and recliners in the front row to maximize space, and comfort (the back row would be used infrequently compared to the front row). I really don't want to extend the riser if I don't have to, I'm a little too far along in the project.

Has anyone else done a "mix and match" like this? Have any pictures?

dlambermont,

A riser that is too small is a common theme. Sometimes the room is not deep enough to accommodate two rows of recliners, other times the home owner or, more often, the builder will just build the riser a bit too small. We have provided plenty of "mixed" rows of seats for this reason. The most common solution is to go with Black Leather for the recliners and black fabric for the movie theater seats. There are other color options, also. Here's a link to a mixed setup. It's a bit uncommon in that the movie style seats are in the front row and the recliners are in the back row. But this will at least give you some ideas and let you know that it can work and even look great.

I will look for some more pics and post when I find them.
