Been searching around for an answer to this problem I have....

Using a new core i3 set up.... play an MKV and it seems to play in double speed. ( it plays smooth but in fast forward or double speed!) What will cause this?

I am using Win7 32bit, MPC-HC and Shark Codecs....

Try VLC to see how it plays, if also fast then try a different MKV file if it plays fine then people will offer help with codec configuration

I am going to update my shark codecs tonight and see if that helps. I have not updated them in a while. I had the same problem with my AT 5550 set up ... After a reboot the problem would fix itself but would always come back the next day... until I did the reboot then everything would work.. but everyday I had to reboot !

This happens to me, but only after I click the scrub bar to advance through chapters. Then everything is at what seems like 2x speed. Trying to step it back down, I can never get it back to 1x speed.

If I just allow the mkv to play, then it will play the entire movie fine.

I'm going to attempt a reinstall as well.
