It occurs to me that I'd like to see a receiver that could send full HD video and audio over coax using MoCA. Presumably this would be a mirror of what is hitting the main hdmi output on the receiver, but could just as easily be sourced from one or more inputs as well. Basic operation would not be unlike the distribution between a multiroom DVR and a plain STB.

The receiver would need to adhere to the same spec used by the DVR to distribute media over the coax plant, and the STB would need to be able to find and source the content from it.

This seems like the perfect way to switch and multiplex content in the home.

Thoughts?

It has been nearly 3 years since I started this thread.

Since then, we've seen HD-BaseT pop up. The 2.0 spec seems to be exactly what I was asking for, except over twisted pair rather than coax.
