Modern reclining fabric sofa?

794 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  HTmarket
Looked around, and pretty much all reclining sofas on the market look like home theater seating and are generally leather, as well. There's only one or two models that I've found that appear to be fabric and sofa-looking, but they aren't in a modern contemporary style. I'm looking for something that would be a natural fit for a living room. Given the popularity of the modern contemporary style, I'm shocked that there aren't more available. Most reclining sofas that I saw are just plain butt ugly and would never find their place into today's living rooms. They all look pretty much the same too, for example Lazy-Boy has dozens that all look the same. Weird.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for, but available in the US:

Any suggestions?

Palliser infineon, is very contemporary looking. It can be ordered in fabric/microfiber, allow 6 weeks to ship.

Other styles pretty contempo also.

That's closer to what I'm looking for, but that's more '80s modern' than 'modern contemporary'. The thickness of the pieces make it look pretty masculine, too, and wouldn't work for many living rooms. It still looks home-theater-seating to me, too - specifically, the divided panels on the upper cushion. Very few non-reclining sofas have that design, and for a reason.

I can tell you one thing I never saw a sofa like the Palliser infineon in the 1980's and I was born in 1962 and lived in Boston, CT and Florida in 1980's yes I am getting old, and if I saw this sofa I would of bought for my condo. I moved three times in 80's and bought furniture three times. It's actually a new design by Palliser as of a few years ago. Infineon sofa is similar to some Jaymar designs and it comes mostly from Canadien mfg versus usa mfg like lazy boy and lane known more for traditional style sofas. You might check out Natuzzi we don't sell but you can search it. I actually have attended the high point furniture show several times and the divided panels upper and lower is something new on the scene as it supports the head very well as I write this post on my Jaymar silvano which is very similar 2 piece headrest.

Oops, I meant 90s modern.

Anyway, this is actually more what I'm looking for:

That's contemporary modern in a traditional sofa style.

It's really hard to find traditional furniture that has all the features that the theater seats offer. When looking at the sofas and sectionals that are sold at regular furniture stores/sites they just fall short. Either the seats are small, not all recline or some are manual and no tray tables. Furniture manufacturers are ignoring an untapped market.

That is more a traditional design vs contemporary design not sure what you man by contemporary traditional as those two terms are opposite of each other.

if that's the design you like, we have the palliser balance theater seat this can be made into loveseat or 3 piece sofa or 4 piece and it can come with nailheads or not. It has same arms as you reference in link, it can come in fabric.
