I read a little about the new Momitsu V888N player, and it looks like this player is supposed to playback HiDef avi files, but it would be nice to have user confirmation before plunking down a nice chunk of change on this unit. The specs indicate it supports file streaming 1920x1080 for video on demand streaming. Not a real attraction at this point as I don't have a HT PC. More importantly, the specs show support of HD mp4. So I'm wondering if the Momitsu will playback HiDef avi files (on disc) that are 720p.

Looks like these started shipping in early Jan. Can anyone provide some feedback on the player? Do HD avi files only stream, or can the player play them from a disc? H264 support??

They play HD-AVI divx wmv9 alright. Also from disc.


H264 is out of the question.
