Hey guys...no im not shopping for myself (I wish) but im doing some construction work in and around a new home for a very very ritch person. As of now he has a 1080p Runco projector. Is this top of the line or is there something better with side to side comparisons?

I know with the help of you guys I might be able to make myself look good with the ritch man! lol Thanks

Expect to get 20 people chiming in with 20 different answers. Without knowing much about the viewing environment or the customers preferred source there is no way to make a qualified recommendation. More info would be required. Where are you located?

Here is a good start.

If he is actually in the market for a PJ the only valid advice anyone can give is for your "employer" to enlist the services of professionals who have experience in that segment. Any other advice is not worth listening to. Im sure thats what he'd do anyway or did he get his current system info from his pool guy

Massive amounts of info are needed to advise properly.

The best PJ on the market is quite simply the one that best fits your particular criteria.

I was just going to suggest the same. Certainly, without knowing more about the kind of setup he's looking for, the type of room, screen size, etc. etc., it is not possible to throw out a single choice and expect it to be right. Even with all that information, though, a consultation with a professional could be quite productive. After all, it might prove worthwhile to, say, get a new screen, change the wall covering, etc. etc.
And what is the Barco SUPERKONTRAST, chopped liver? You guys nver learn do you? There is one and only one projector to be king of all. That is why it comes with optional everything, to fit a wide array of needs.

or not ..and just pay the most and tell him it's the best!! You probably can't go wrong if your spending $30,000-$150,000...... you would hope not anyways..

I would keep all the chat on the forum, avoid requestd for private PM's, which usually mean there is some vested interest.$$$$
You mean you guys aren't gonna recommend the new 150" Panasonic plasma that was at CES???
If you looked closely you could see the seams made by the 4 x 1080p pictures.

It is not ready for primetime.

I'd check out the "professionals" first.

You might also want to spell 'rich' correctly, as the above is NOT a special Canadian spelling of it.

Frankly, if he has a Runco from a local dealer at this point, assuming he did buy it locally, things like after sales service become important, esp in a place like Regina, so I'd stick with that.

Regina is not exactly a hotspot of system design... i know, i have been there plenty. If your friend is looking for a be all and end all theatre, he needs to first take a trip to toronto, or chicago and determine after looking at some rooms, what is important to him.

Saying what is the best projector is like looking for the best speaker. there are so many options that there is no one answer. and the supporting system is just as importnat. sources, screen, environment, etc.

And as in most cases, if he wants a be all and end all experience, there is stuff he has never even heard of that can take things over the edge. the right seating, motion chairs, lighting, masking systems... etc.

He needs to identify what he wants first.

Now that was a classy way of saying what I was thinking: He can't be that rich, he'd have moved from Regina a long time ago..

(just messing with you PDenny!)

well! If he owns Ipsco Pipe! That would make him rich!

Runco vx55 D with Auotoscope my advice. ....
Thanks for the info guys. I'd love to see what his picture quality is like compared to mine. I have a HD1000u on a 106 inch screen. I think it's awesome...but $50,000+ awesome?
You might want to edit that post. This guy might not appreciate you discussing his business on a public forum.
