I have a Vizio GV42L, and by all accounts, its native resolution is 1366 x 768. However, the only setting I can get to work right is 1280 x 720.
When I try to use 1366x768, it is either way too small (not using the whole screen) or blown up too big (so I lose the edges of the picture). 1280x720 has the same problem, except with that resolution, I am allowed to do custom scaling. I don't get that option with 1366x768. I can't figure out why this is. FWIW, the computer does try to tell me that 1280x720 is the recommended setting.
What am I missing here? I don't know what all is relevant, but it's an i3 2100t with an Intel DH67CFB3 motherboard. I'm running hdmi directly from the htpc to the tv.
(In a perfect world the answer would be: Buy a new 60 inch 1080p LED, but that's not in the cards right now)
