Mono Price mount Blows! Any fix?

1388 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  louthewiz
I have my hc1500 mounted on the cheap mount. I wasn't expecting it to be easy to line up but I was expecting it to hold it's position...

About every 2 days I have to rock it straight, I had to slightly offset the PJ due to roof molding's so I think the little bit of extra weight is putting a bit of load.

Will tightening the center bolt help or is it a lost cause and should I just upgrade?

Mounts are probably one thing Monoprice doesn't do well with. Looked at them, bought from mounts direct. Be careful though, got screwed on their NPL one.

If you are talking about slipping that needs repositioning and tightening I might have a solution. I dont know the configuration of your mount but we had a similiar problem with a different kind of mount and discovered that if we put a toothed lock washer in between the slipping surfaces it stopped it dead.

If you dont know what one looks like google "toothed lock washer" to get an idea. A "star" or toothed might fix your problem. Of course you would have to determine where its best to put it and if you have enough thread left on the bolt to allow for its placement.
I made my own and it looks like this , this picture is from an older projector.
