I saw a bottle of Monster Screenclean at the local Bast Buy today. The package says it's a "Big Screen TV Cleaning Kit," but doesn't specify whether it's for glass tubes or RPTV front surfaces. It does contain a microfiber cloth, but also says it "polishes screens and lenses."

The sales people couldn't tell me if it was ok to use on an RPTV cover, much less the lenticular screen itself. I couldn't find the product on the Monster site, nor with a google search of both web and groups.

Does anyone have any more knowledge about this product? If it
can be used on lenticular screens, I'd be inclined to take the protective plastic overlay off.

Thanks.

I bought a 42" GWII over the weekend at BB. You get a discount on accessories at time of purchase so I got a bottle of this Monster cleaner. It is thiker so it does not run down the screen in the electronics. Have not used it yet. Would be curious too if anyone has.

I used it on my Sony 51" CRT RPTV and Sammy 61" DLP. Works great from what I saw, leaving no streaks and cleans the screen up real nice.

**Edit**

You mentioned that the Monster Screenclean package said "Big Screen TV Cleaning Kit" so my next question would be, how many big screen TV's have you seen have a glass front on it? Every big screen TV I've ever seen has some kind of plastic front on it which is why I felt it was safe to use the cleaner on my RPTV.

Good point by garet. I have my protective screen off because I hate glare and use nothing on it but a damp terry followed by a dry terry. I wouldn't use anything on the lenticular screen itself other than that. If it has the plastic screen on it I would use the cleaner.

While your fears may be well grounded, Monster has been around for a long, long time and I trust their products implicitly. They have NEVER steered me wrong and as the forefront runner in todays audio and video technology, I feel pretty safe to use a screen cleaner produced and manufactured by them.

Well, I sent email to Monster asking about the safety of use on lenticular screens, and also invited them to post to this thread.

If I hear anything I'll let you know.

Well, here's the reply I got from Monster. Either I didn't post my question well enough or they didn't understand it. It seems that their screen cleaner is good only for glass tubes. (?)

Perhaps someone else could write a better letter and bet a more succinct answer.

Hello Rick,

Our screen cleaner is a polymer based solution that does not contain ammonia or alcohol solvents. Please refer to the manual of the monitor in question and if the recommend cleaning is strictly stated as "use soap and water only" then I recommend not using any type of cleaning solution. Other then that the screen cleaner will work just fine for all other applications.

Please let me know if you have any further questions,

Full Name:

Country:USA

Subject:product Information

Comments:There is a some discussion of Monster ScreenClean on AVSForum.

The question is whether the ScreenClean is safe to use on rear projection

television sets where the lenticular (striped) screen is not covered by a

protective plastic anti-glare sheet of plastic.

I could find no information either on the package or on the Monster

site about the safety of using ScreenClean on these expensive lenticular

screens. If it is safe and effective it would be a boon to those of us

who have the linticular screen exposed to the room.

Please let me know the answer and I'll post it in AVSForum for you, or

you might prefer to answer it directly here in the thread:
