moome card arrived-DOA with no link light

Welp, another notch in Fate's belt for me. Installed the much anticipated moome card in my 8500 as soon as I got home from work (I even remembered to disconnect power before yanking the VIM) and I have lights...just not a link when component source is connected. I haven't received the new Panasonic DVD-S97S yet so can't test the DVI port yet. FedEx should be bringing it tomorrow. The way things are going I can't help but wonder how many pieces THAT will be in.

Here's a rundown of my foray into CRT so far (I had a LCD box)

Oct 05- Won an 8500 on ebay that DHL lost for almost a month and then delivered beat to hell and inoperable- $880 + $204 shipping -$1084.00

Oct 05- Buy a gaggle of PC parts to convert PC to HTPC-$450.00

Nov 05- Win a Zektor HDS4 switcher on ebay-$188.00

Nov 05-Purchase moome card to simplify connectivity-$180-ish

Late Nov 05-Win another 8500 on ebay-(Thanks for the excellent transaction AVS member Brian) $1400.00 plus shipping -$1650.00

Dec 05-Upgrade receiver to better than what I had for 6.1 DTS-$550.00

Dec 05-Upgrade speakers (especially the gawdawful center) -$750.00

Nov 05-Purchase theme posters for HT-$275.00

Dec 05-Misc cables-$250.00

Dec 05-Order 8 butt kickers-$160.00

Dec 05-Misc electronics supplies-$175.00

Dec 05-Panasonic DVD-S97S-$275.00

Battle the WAF- EVERY step of the way

Nov and Dec 05-Visits to doctor for back problems from lugging Volkswagen weight pj's around (three prior back surgeries under my considerable belt) $650.00

Not having watched a movie in my HT in months for all this??!!!-

I guess if it were easy we'd all be at Best Buy picking out a flashlight but I ain't quitting!

I thought to myself when I opened the moome box and the card was floating in a sea of styrofoam peanuts without being in a static bag: "No good can come of this".

Did you turn the switch on the front of the DVI card? I'm not sure what it does, since I don't use component... but give it a try.

And also, you must press "source + 2" on the ehome remote, so the PJ doesn't try to get it's signal from the VIM.

Yep need to set to input 2 like Eddie said. I am sure moome tested it. I have the switch to the right on mine, both inputs are being used and all the lights are on.

Yeah raster....whatever. Now I can see why you get the "attention" that you do. Never a positive post. You must be the Doomsday Guy from Gullivers Travels.

I set it for Source 2...no go. I'm really not pissed. I've had luck like this my whole life so I've learned to develop a thick skin and a good sense of humor.

moome and I will get it worked out. I have faith in his abilities but it did take a long long journey so whatever happened to it I'm sure isn't his fault.

Thanks for the replies tho I was only looking to rant a little in a humorous way.

It turned out to be something simple...the link LEDwas bent over backward and shorting on the board (not sure what component) but as soon as I put it back into position and powered it up all is good. I'm going to add a small dab of hot glue to all three LED's and secure them. The box was a bit beat up that it shipped in so it had a rough ride.

And raster....you don't reed muchly gud dew yah...my post clearly states I'm coming FROM digital. Nice bid for wit tho...keep trying...you might even pull it off some day.

Thats great! Glad it was something simple like that. Moome doesn't package the best... but at his prices, I sort of don't care.

I had a broken solder joint on my board but M. Newman spotted it before any damage could be done. Still need to straighten the face plate from the mauling it took.

It sounds like they send the "best" UPS guys over to tawain for training.

What kind of training son -

What timing... Moome just sent me an email stating that he shipped on 12/20... so it looks like santa is a bit behind this year, but I'm still patiently waiting...

Hi,

My card arived yesterday....

But it do not work. The link LED don't light and when I switch the

little switch on the card - my HTPC shoot down!

Same result with a notebook.

The DVI-LED still light a little bit (bud not so bright as the red sel-LED).

I'm in contact with moome. Hope he find a solution.
