More important: Aimable tweeter or matching speakers?

2298 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  sigpig
I’m looking for in ceiling atmos speakers. All of my other speakers are Emotiva which have a ribbon tweeter. The Emotiva Vaulta speakers are out of my price range.

what would be a better choice… Monoprice Ambers to match the tweeter or Polk RC80i with an aiming tweeter?

Thanks

ceiling speakers don't have to match the main 5 in your setup. I'd go with the Polk RC80i to save money.

Monoprice makes a ceiling speaker with a ribbon tweeter for less than the Polks if that interest you.

Yes, I know about the Monoprice… I mentioned them in my post but they do not have an aimable tweeter… that is the issue. Thanks for your opinion on the Polks. I think I may go with an aimable tweeter over the static ribbon tweeter.
Monoprice has in-ceiling speakers aith a 15* angled gbaffle that would be great for Atmos.
Of course, there's the RSL C34E in-ceiling speakers too...
These have an aimable tweeter.
i have these now. They are good. Im moving and going to upgrade to the
Klipsch CDT-5800-C II . The whole assembly is aimable to an extent with a tweeter that aims even more.

The Monoprice Amber are actually $50 less per pair than the RC80i.

Question is how necessary/important the aimable tweeter feature is.

Exactly! That’s my question too. I’m wondering how important aimable is.
Why look for aim-able tweeters when you can get speakers with full angled baffles:
