* By next year, Fujitsu-Hitachi will have capacity for 1.2 million 42" panels annually.... ALiS is alive and well, but more significantly, announced plasma capacity continues to soar... They described gradual increases in 55" production.

* NEC currently make 25,000 panels per month at the plant that makes the 61' panels.... Those are current 10% of the total panels and will be doubling soon to 20% of the panels... This is great because the NEC panel is already (a) good and (b) one of the cheapest available.

* Matsushita has a new plant that starts operations in April. That plant will have the capability to make 60" panels -- a first for Matsushita (aka Panasonic here in the U.S.). A 60" Panasonic at last? Tune into this space late this year for updated rumors and perhaps some facts. :)

* The Japanese four: Fujitsu/Hitachi, NEC, Matsushita and Pioneer (see 60" rumor in another thread), make 80% of the world's plasmas. But the data coming out of Korea about what LG and Samsung are doing means that percentage will fall.

* Currently 50" and larger plasmas are 21% of the total plasma units sold. That will increase to 50% in 2007. Makes a lot of sense given (a) the increased affordability of the bigger panels (around $3000 by then for the cheapest ones... $5000 for the best ones?!?) (b) the growth of LCD in the 32-40" category -- and even above
