I recorded both the West Wing and ER with MyHD MDP-120. The image looks great in both, if a little too dark at places. But I have this distracting silver/gray line at the bottom of the 16:9/letterbox frame on my 4:3 TV. I haven't seen this when I watch other shows live, and I wish I could have watched these live to see whether it's MyHD recording/playback introducing this or not. Anyone else experience this? I'm running MyHD v1.62 with OTA reception from Mount Wilson, LA.

Adam_H: did you watch it on a 4:3 screen? My guess is that if you you watched it on a 16:9 screen, you couldn't see it. The silver line looked like it was part of the bottom black bar of the letterbox. Also, do you use a MyHD HTPC card for HD reception, or do you use an "over-the-counter" set top box?

I did watch it on a MyHD, but it was on a 16:9 screen. I misunderstood your original post. I didnt realize the line was acually at the bottom of the letterbox bars and not the active image area. Good luck on getting it resolved!

I have to double-check my recorded file, but according to Cliff Watson in this thread , this is likely a 1088 problem that has to be resolved at the local broadcaster level.

PS--anyone know where I can complain to the local NBC broadcaster?

for what it is worth i get it on showtime recording too sometimes, a reboot before recording of the stb and computer fix it, you are not losing any picture information, it is extra data being shown on screen which should not be there. but i bet this would not work for this case, as i bet your station is transmitting like darius said 1088i

Yup, my local KNBC has chosen to re-define HDTV as 1088i. Just confirmed on Boom Town.
