Hey guys,

Haven't been around in a while. Have a couple of questions.

I'm still on the fence as far as dvd players go. Loving my apex still...no joke. But want upconversion or hd-blu, but as always money is an issue. So, here it goes...

1. Anyone have an Lg upconverting dvd player (1080p)? How is compared to the oppo. Lg seems a bit more affordable than the oppos.

2. I like the onkyo brand. Where is there upconverting 1080p dvd player?

3. Please don't shoot me, but is walmart really coming out w/ a "cheap" hd-dvd player AND if so....WHEN? I know, i know....wrong forum, but this is a multi part question.

4. Which toshiba hd-dvd player does 1080p and where is the cheapest place to buy it?

5. I REALLY don't want to pay more than $100 or $150, but will probably spring for the oppo eventually or the toshiba hd-dvd when it's affordable (when?).

1. LG is not a popular brand around here, for good reason.

4. Both the A20 and XA2 output 1080p. The A2 does not, but is certainly well priced.

5. Get a Tosh HD-DVD player over an Oppo (better for upscaling, and plays HD-DVD as well).

To my knowledge, Onkyo doesn't make a 1080p DVD player. They make a couple 1080i/720p players. I have the changer.

I don't know if WalMart will market an HD-DVD player, but there is talk of a couple of Chinese-built sub-$200 players later this year. I guess Walmart will sell some of those (although I don't think they'll be under their Durabrand label or what have you.)

So, i've just recently found that the toshiba a20 will have a 100.rebate or 100.price drop, as per engadget. I guess you find it on amazon for less than $300? I don't see it. Is it not in effect yet for father's day? Anyone read this? THat would be the way to go.
