After reading the many discussions on the variable iris I have a question.

If you are putting a projector in a living room, light color walls, and white ceiling. Would lumens be the most important feautre to look for on the projector?

If I understood the ambient light discussion, ambient light kills the contrast ratio, so a projector A with 2000 CR and 500 lumens *MIGHT* not look as good as Projector B, 1000CR with 1000 lumens.

Do I understand this correctly?

I think lumens is the most important factor if you plan on having light in the room, however if you plan on watching a movie in the dark then 800 is fine. I'm not sure how contrast ratio plays into it but I know that with my X1 the more light the more washed out the picture so you can't really tell how the contrast is affected because you can't even see the damn picture.

I watch movies in the day all the time and just put pillows against the window and while light comes in it doesn't really affect the picture.
