I'm looking for a new OTA box. Basically, I'd like something that is a little more sensitive that my current Zenith box. The Zenith box needs about 50% signal strength to hold a steady picture. Which is fine for all channels except the local FOX which comes in at around 25%. Does anyone know if the Motorola HDT101 will do what I'm needing?

Whoops!

I've see you've already been there!

Is your Zenith the HDV420? If so, about 50-55% is what it takes to get a signal lock (I have one).

The newer LG (Zenith) tuners and tuner/DVD players (LST-4200a and LST-3510a) can typically lock with about 35% signal indication.

I haven't used the Motorola.

I have the aforementioned LG LST-4200A. Although the signal strength meter is not numeric (it just shows a bar in a range from "bad" to "good"), the signal strength on all of the channels I receive through my unamplified Radio Shack UHF/VHF antenna appears to be less than 50% (the bar is not half way through the range). I would have to say that this model is particularly good at locking on to weaker signals. I have never had any video or audio drop outs on any channel. Every channel seems to be rock solid.

According to http://www.antennaweb.org I am between 33 and 37 miles away from the transmitters for the channels I receive.
