I've had the same thought for my UHF antenna, but I'm not sure it would help (leaves being my UHF problem).

Yes, I have.

I have a UHF antenna (Channel Master 4228) about 45 feet up on the top of a pine tree in my backyard.

I did this to keep my Homeowners' Association off my back (though they still complained), because it's less conspicuous than a 40 foot mast on the roof with guy wires.

The tree is old enough and therefore stable enough that the reception isn't adversely affected in the wind due to tree sway (which can be a problem with smaller trees).

I hired a tree guy to get the antenna up there - that's another story, because tree guys generally don't like doing this stuff.

On one occasion squirrels bit through the rotor cable and it had to be replaced.

Otherwise it's worked great.

Hmm, squirrels, that was something that hadn't occurred to me.

I had a neighbor who chopped the top out of a small pine tree and replaced it with a ham radio antenna. Cheap tower :D
