Mounting Center Speaker with no Hole!

382 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Kal Rubinson
I have my 6.1 Sony Home Theater (HT-7700DP). The center channel does not have any hole in it. How do I mount it to the wall or the ceiling? All the mounts that I have seen require some kind of screw to fit in the speaker. One omnimount one even suggested to drill a hole!! Well, obviously I don't want to screw my new speaker like that .. Please help!!

Thanks!

There's nothing wrong with drilling a hole into the back of a wooden speaker cabinet as long as it gets filled with something dense (like a screw).

Just be careful where you drill it. Speak to your manufacturer and ask for the preferred locations.
Thanks colin .... the thing is that the speaker is not wooden .. It is some kind of synthetic/plastic/mettallic casing. The speaker is very thin and I'm really scared to touch it .. is there a screw-less system of mounting?

Thanks!
Omnimount and, undoubtedly, others make clamp-type mounts which do not require holes in the speaker.

I couldn't navigate the Omnimount site but you might check them and B-Tech, as well.
