Lightning fried my mother's 5k modem, so I traded her one of my 4ks. This gave me a chance to play with dvarchive 5k mpegs.

I found that Movie Star 4.25 for the DVCII also 'fixes' 5k mpegs just like Womble. The smart rendering is also about as fast as saving in womble and the resulting mpegs do not re-encode in DVDMF2.

This adds more credence to what I read on this forum that Movie Star for the DVC II was built on the Womble engine.

I have found that timefix works better for me on large replay mpegs than the Womble gop fixer. In fact, the gop fixer seems to make things worse as often as not.

On a side note, for anyone who cannot get replay mpegs to work in tmpgenc. I found that if you have Powerdvd 4.0 and have updated it with the Jan (2417) fix, tempgenc will no longer read replay (and many other) mpeg-2 files. The fix for this is to reinstall the original Powerdvd and forget the update.
