Moving from D* HD to E* HD - antenna changes?

320 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mudder
Hi,

I'm currently have DirecTV HDTV antenna and receiver. I want to switch to Dish Network. Can I change the receiver only and re-use DirecTV antenna, just repositioning it toward Dish network satellites? Or, I must use

Dish Network antenna.

Thanks for advise.

There is no such thing as a HDTV antenna. What you are talking about is the Satellite dish, its likely a triple LNB. I do not think that one is compatible with Dish Network's receivers. But if you switch to Dish Network, they will likely swap it out during the free installation. They might even be able to re-use the pole.

Finally, this is a regular dbs question, not an HDTV programming question. Wrong forum.

The Dish Network technician will bring you a new receiver and dish, likely take down your direct tv dish, and reuse the mast unless you're in an area where they put up a super dish. Since Dish Network does all that for free I'd let them.
