I'm looking for a DVD player capable of playing MP3's from a DVD. Does anyone know of any?

To date I haven't seen a player that can do this. It would be pretty cool. The best you can probably get is PCM audio.

I've been looking for the same thing. I have found that the new standalone dvd player from Liteon ( LVD2001 ) can play MP3s from DVD-R. It also can play MPEG4 and DIVX.


I haven't picked one up yet, but supposedly it is an inexpensive item.


Do a Google search for more info.

That new Yamakawa can play MP3 from DVD and there are a few Daewoo's that can do it as well and a model from LG I believe...

I've seen reports that the Pioneer DV-563A can do this off both CD-R/RW and DVD-R, along with everything else it does (DVD-A, SACD, VCD, SVCD, JPG, etc.). I bought one of these last weekend, but haven't tested this feature yet. I'm going to give it a shot when I get home and I'll let you know.

I can confirm that the Pioneer DV563A does in fact play MP3 files from a DVD-R. I burned approximately 3.5GB of MP3 files onto a 1X DVD-R this afternoon (Nero v6, ISO, single session, relaxed everything) and put it in the player just a few minutes ago. The display shortly showed "MP3", and when I hit Play, it started playing. I had the digital (optical) output selected, so the analog outputs aren't necessary for MP3 (why would they be? )


The on-screen navigation menu shows the full directory and file names, and allows me to move throughout the hierarchy with ease. I was happy before, but this is great!
