I do exactly the same thing. I use a pronto to control the source selection and volume and also to control the various devices I have connected to the Kustom.
The keypads that come with the Kustom 6640 have an "emit" mode that'll allow you to have your pronto learn the codes for the buttons on the keypad. The keypads also have an IR forwarder that'll retransmit the IR signals from the pronto to the devices that are near the Kustom.
Any chance of you sharing your CCF file for the pronto? I have the Kustom 6640 and LOVE it, but have not gotten around to programming my pronto. If I could steal your file, that would at least save me the trouble of the "learn" portion.
Obviously, I would have to change your other hardware, but the Kustom stuff would be a huge help.
If you are not willing to share (which I would understand), how hard was it to "learn"?
There is only mute, vol up vol down, and the 6 source buttons on the keypad. It should only take a minute to learn them into the pronto. The Pronto controls the sources functions just as if you were pointing at the source itself.
NuVo just introduced a new 4-zone, 2-source unit called "Essentia" It is similar to their E6 but has different keypads. It's not on their web site yet, but they are running ads for it in the trade pubs. Should less expensive than the 6640. I've had great success with the E6 which is very similar.
