I have had broadband for a while now. My local telco just came out with a 3 meg version of DSL. I ordered the new DSL and while I'm in my trial period, I still have my other high speed internet.

I have set up both modems with routers and both are connected on the same subnet but with different IP's.

I was thinking that while I had the extra bandwith, I'd be nice and set it such that I'd put one replay on each of the modems. (It seems that I always have a transfer going on each machine.) That way my transfers would go 2x as fast.

Assuming that I keep the replay ip's on the same subnet but with different default gateways (one to each router) and I set up port forwarding right on each router, then I should be able to do IVS on both with each having it's own internet and still be able to stream shows between them, right?

EDIT: I decided to give it a try once I had shows transferring on each unit. I simply changed the default gateway on a unit to the other router and then did a net connect. Shortly I could see incoming requests to the replay's port. However the router wasn't forwarding the port for some reason. Since the router was over a year old, I checked with the manufacturer and got a new firmware. After a quick flash, suddenly it was forwarding the port and I could see the transfer going. Using the net meter off the 243 zones screen, one replay is doing 25kb/sec and the other is doing 38kb/sec.

It should work the way you experienced, but I've found with Belkin and

Buffalo broadcom/linux-based routers, they make some assumptions with

their implementation of port forwarding.

With the firmware I was using, their port forwarding would only work if the

router was configured with x.x.x.1 LAN IP. For example if you set your 2nd

router as 192.168.0.2 it wouldn't work because they port forwarding rules

cause the return packets to go to 192.168.0.1.

While I have Buffalo routers to do wireless streaming, I use a D-Link router as my main router. The secondary router was a spare SMC router.

I have not had any experience with the Belkin routers. I used to always go with Linksys routers until Cisco bought them. Once they got bought, they made changes to the routers and I had nothing but problems so I changed to D-Link.
