Multiple side surrounds?

What is the "proper" way to do side surrounds with two rows of seating? I will also have rear speakers (Logic 7/EX). Are two pairs of dipoles spaced 4' to 5' apart a bad idea? Would I be better off with two pairs of bipoles, tripoles, or even direct radiating speakers?


The second row will be on a 1 foot platform. How does this effect the height of the side surounds (either one or two pair)?
