I have a Mitsubishi HD500 DirecTV box (with elliptical dish) and a non-HD Sony receiver for another TV. I now want to add two additional non-HD DirecTV receivers, as well as an OTA antenna to get local channels and more HD channels.

I tried a Terk Multiswitch, and everything worked fine except I could no longer get the two HD channels on DirecTV (HBO HD and HDNET). They popped in and out (mostly out). Bypassing the multiswitch to my HD box returned the HD channels. I don't have the OTA antenna hooked up yet.

Question: Do I need a different multiswitch, and if so which is the best? The Terk is a passive 3 x 4 (two inputs from satellite dish plus one for OTA antenna, and four outputs to the 4 receivers).

Do I need a powered multiswitch? HELP!

You need a 4x4 switch.

In order for all four of your proposed receivers to access both satellites, you need all four lnb outputs going into a single switch. Then each receiver can grab what it wants.
