Technically, he only aquired the GM/Hughes portion, a little over 20% of the pie. This means he has 3 out out of about 12 seats on the executive board. He's not going to be able to make too many radical descisions on his own - the other board members have a say, as well, and they have greater numbers.
Honestly, I can't see how anyone can really have an opinion on how this will affect DirecTV and it's service until he actually starts making his portion of descisions. No one except Rupert knows what Rupert has in mind. I think we need to take a wait and see attitude to find out what will happen before anyone does anything drastic.
