Just got this email from the band MUSE fan site today:
http://muse.warnerbrosrecordsstore.com/

THE RESISTANCE LIMITED EDITION DELUXE BOX SET

Pre-order $99.99 Free Shipping

US residents: Only available to pre-order here!

Multi format box set containing the following:

* CD + DVD in foldout softpak including The Making Of The Resistance DVD (43 minutes 53 seconds)

* 180g Double heavyweight vinyl

* Muse USB pre-loaded with WAV, Apple Lossless and MP3 320 files plus bespoke audio player

* 12" Art Print

* ** Exclusive to this edition** 5.1 surround sound Audio DVD

Apparently, the other pre-order editions won't have the 5.1 DTS/Dolby surround edition. That's too bad...

But, also getting a HQ VINYL copy, plus a USB drive with WAV/Apple Lossless & 320bps MP3 pre-loaded with the bundle isn't a bad deal, though, for $99.

I think they figure there's not enough of a market (of DVD-A players) to invest in it

still, they could have made the DVD with 5.1 DTS and hirez stereo

otoh, the album will be "contemporary sounding" which I take to mean loud and overcompressed

I don't want the vinyl, I don't want the USB with Lossless rips, I don't want the making-of DVD. Just let me buy the 5.1 mix (DTS is fine!) and a regular CD. But not for $99. yeesh. And bands wonder why they have a hard time reaching a broader market. I tolerate that kind of thing with Porcupine Tree because they do eventually come out with a "normal" 5.1 DVD-A release eventually, but I have no idea if Muse will do that in this case.

Oh well, "what never was but could have been" is always an interesting discussion,

Seems like this thread died a quick death...to bad.

I just got a hold of the 5.1 version and although it is not a DVD A MLP recording it does quench my thirst for more 5.1 music. I like Muse and personally thankful they even put this out. It is very enjoyable even though it is not one of the best recorded disc I own. Because I like the band well enough it has it moments in the sun with me. I think this thread should wake up and spark everyone once again to seek it out and enjoy. The band is touring and it would be nice to start a new conversation about this disc.

Well, after listening to the 2-ch CD, I lost all interest in getting this in 5.1. This latest Muse album just doesn't pique my interest the way Black Holes and Revelations did.

But YMMV, and hopefully there are more folks who do like the disc, and will create a market for a stand-alone 5.1 release.

Well.. this thread certainly piqued my interest. I'm a Muse fan and a surround sound music fan... so I did some research:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180480865886

Which I bought.. since the price was pretty good. Then, I found this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/forum/cd/...x1VMVHFZBKQRKH

where S. Ellemore says: Seems the 5.1 Audio DVD version is completely gone now, you can't even get it on Muse.mu.

and he's right... I checked out the official muse page: http://muse.mu/shop/product/141/the-...menu/3/albums/

and right there it says: * Please note the deluxe box set does not include the 5.1 surround sound Audio DVD.

and only two discs are pictured. The white (or grey) CD and the grey (or white) DVD (making of). The black surround DVD isn't there! I just messaged the seller on ebay and asked him whether or not it's included.. but if it isn't, I'm gonna be super pissed. I don't have a vinyl and don't really care about anything else in the box set besides the surround DVD. :\\

I talked to another guy he sold the deluxe box set to. Apparently we got the some of the 5000 numbered editions. The seller even sent me pics as proof. Looks like I got lucky with this one. Good deal for $50 shipped.
