If you're running OS X and have iOS devices, I'd strongly recommend you use iTunes, it's stable with 30,000 songs, convert your kitchen sink of FLAC/WMA/Ogg lossless to ALAC with Max or XLD and be done with it, since lossless is lossless you won't be able to hear any difference anyway, use Apple's remote app and enjoy the seamless bit perfect Apple walled garden. It makes things so much easier.
Short of that, or if you have a lot of high res audio files and would really appreciate resolution switching on the fly--which iTunes does not do--you might want to consider AyreWave, it's a free beta at the moment by the same developer of Max:
They are the two best alternatives to iTunes...one nice thing about Pure Music is you can still use the Apple remote app. There's no slick remote app yet for AyreWave, most folks try to manage it with a VNC app. Look into Screens, TouchPad, Rowmote Pro and Snatch.
Looks like I may be stuck doing conversions. Not particularly thrilled about that. Have tried usin flac in iTunes usin fluke but it does not consistently import the library. Just wishing there was a better music manager with lossless support plus iPhone/iPod remote capability!
