Hi, looking to get a musical amp for a second home, key uses will be for DVD to be partnered to a Denon 3805 and Hi Rez Multi-channel, SACD in particular. Will be looking for a minimum I Link and at least 120W per channel, option to bi-amp channels in a 5.1 config will be desirable.

Budget is in the $2000 mark.

Bump, any takers?

Essentially I'm trying to build a short list of musical sounding receivers, in the $2k mark that have a firewire input for Hi rez audio. So far I have only come across the soon to be released Pionner AX5ai!! Are ther any others in this price bracket?

Any opinions will be most welcome

Don't know what the model designations would be in the U.K. but the only i-link enabled AVRs on the market, regardless of price point are the Pioneer Elite 55 TXi, 56 TXi and 59 TXi. Yamaha's RX Z9 is also firewire enabled.

You can throw Denon's 3805 into that list, but I haven't heard anyone describe it as musical. Fine for HT, though.

Thanks for the info, however I don't think the Denon 3805, actually has a firewire input, it has a the 3rd Generation Denon link, however no firewire.

My question should be rephrased to mean which amps / receivers are more musical, and of these types which ones have a firewire input? I've read that Marantz amps can be quite good at 2 channel audio as well as movies, however I'm not sure whether they have a firewire input for Hirez audio.

Are there any other amps I should be considering within the 2k budget. I come from the separates Pre /Pro and Power world, however I'm not looking to spend that amount of money on a second amp.

I could possibly go up a bit in budget, however my main use of amp will be 60% SACD and 40% Music, hence the need for something that sounds as good with Music as it does with Movies.

Thanks
