MX-600 Directv Sony A65 Sat. Receiver Head Scratcher Mike or Dave Help!

I have had mx MX-600 for a couple of month now and have used it on several Directv sat. receiver boxes without issue. I have a problem that I find odd that I am hoping someone can help with.

First I have the transmitter mounted behind my rack in the basement of my home and the MX-600 is used in the main level which is only about twenty feet away. I have the emitters fed through the back of my rack and mounted appropriately on the front of the sat. receiver. I replaced a Philip's Directv box (horrible receiver by the way) which a Sony A65 box and I deleted the old codes for the receiver and reprogrammed the MX-600 with the Sony sat code. Sony only has one so it should not be an issue. I tried it and got nothing!! I unplugged the MX-600 base station and brought it around the corner into the theater room were my rack was and if I keep the base station about five feet away with no emitter affixed to the Sony receiver box all is well and everything works fine. I have tried a different emitter and I still get nothing. Well I should not say nothing, once in a while it will take a stray command but for the most part nothing. What is going on? I have tried everything I know including fresh batteries for the remote. Again, it works fine if I keep the MX-600 base station in the same room about five feet from the box. I would rather not keep the MX-600 base station were it is now as in the same room, I liked it hidden in the back of rack with the emitter feed through the rack and affixed to the front of the receiver. I have tried cleaning the eye on the receiver and that did not help. I need help, what am I doing wrong? The MX-600 worked so well on two other Sat. receiver boxes, why cant I get it to work in the same manor this time.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Many of the Sony satellite receivers are overly sensitive to IR input. The emitters of the MRF-100 have high output and often overwhelm components with high sensitivity like your Sony. You can try moving the emitter away from the IR window on the Sony and it may work more reliably.
Thanks so much Mike, I will try that tonight! You have pulled me out of the soup before so I am sure this will do the trick!
No go...again, the receiver box works great with the remote with just the base station about four feet from it with no emitter affixed to the front of it. Once I move the base station to the other side of the wall and place the emitter on or near the eye I only get one out of every 10 commands to work. Not to confuse anyone but last night I thought I would have to learn the whole remote and the commands I started to learn work just fine with the base unit in the other room and the emitter affixed to the eye. Strange coincidence or something to it?
