I'm currently building a house in which I want to build a home theater room in. I am looking for one remote that will tie all elements of the theater in one to eliminate the need for many remotes. I have done research on the Philip's pronto, but was told I wouldn't like the touch screen aspect and that I should go more to a hard button style. So then I was looking at the MX500 which looks good but I was told it was hard to program and has danger of losing all the codes if something happens since you can't back it up. That lead me to look at the MX700 which looks great with the computer interface but it is a little bit more than I wanted to spend just for the convenience of having one remote.

Some of my equipment will be changing as I will be upgrading it for the theater but currently I have a Denon 1803 receiver, Panasonic DVD player, Sony TV, Hughs Direct Tivo, JVC VCR, Kenwood CD player and Lutron lamp dimmers. I am looking for something that will work well with all of these and if any one knows of any place that I can get a remote cheap online.

Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.

Thanks

Corey,

You can get a product called IRClone to program (and back-up, I think) the MX-500. It's actually pretty easy to program as it comes but the IRClone product makes this much easier.

Corey: A lot has been posted about IR Clone on this forum and at Remote Central.

Here's the IRClone website:
www.irclone.com

Here's the Remote Central link to MX-500/IRClone file sharing area. This allows you to download other folks' set-ups.

I just purchased the MX-500 and IR Clone and I really love it. See

I don't know you, but many people are very happy with the Pronto (and I am one of them) so it should be your choice if you like TS. Some do and some don't

none of that is true the 500 is easy to setup and irclone does add a lot of functionality
