Any recommendations on a new one? I am looking into getting the amp serviced as this is what athena told me to do, but I know I might be looking at getting a brand new one anyway. Can anyone suggest something comparable for 300 or less? I know I am mnoost likely going to have to downsize the speaker and watts considering the p6000 is a 12inch 800watt.

What is budget?


You will probaly end up getting a better sub not downgrading. Its a 200w amp not 800w don't know how they conme up with that number but its not "true".

I bought this sub for $310, so I am hoping for something in that area. So the amp inside all ASP6000's are only 200 watts? Thats odd they report 800

From the Athena website:

800 watts, 200 watts RMS


The 800w number is probaly some kind of peak output at 25% harmonic distortion into a 2ohm load that would cook the amp on 3 seconds. By not showing the specs at which those 800w are generated they just allow themselves to put 800w on the box to look impressive.


IF a $1300 SVS PB 13 Ultra is using a $750 amp then you can be pretty confident a $300 athena sub is not putting out 800W.


You can get an PB10-NSD Black B Stock for $399right now so if you can stretch up a little you can see a big improvement. Sure other will chime in with other $300 recommendations

IMO, for $315 shipped the eD A2-300 is the best subwoofer in your price range. I also agree that the PB10-NSD is also a nice sub in the ~$400 range, not including shipping.
