Hello all,

Finally, finished renovating the basement and built a dedicated home theater and home gym. It's a small basement approx 1200 sq ft and this was the best I could've done with what I had. There were challenges due to low ceiling (7 ft) on one half due to air ducts and the support beam. Room is 18ft x 14ft, viewing distance is approx 12ft.

I'm glad everything worked out fine, that beam doesn't interfere, even if someone's sitting on left edge of sofa and was able to mount the screen just above subwoofers and cabinet.

Only thing remaining is theatre seats. I've shortlisted to Valencia Oslo or Tuscany loveseat. Any recommendations as which one is more comfortable. That Ikea sofa I got is very uncomfortable if you have to watch something for more than an hour.

Configuration 5.2.4
Equipment list :
Denon AVR X3700H
Epson 5030UB and HC1450
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-280F Fronts
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-450C Centre
Klipsch Reference RP-402S Side surrounds
Klipsch RP-140SA Front height elevation
Polk Audio top middle Atmos
2 x SVS PB2000 (sideways on SVS isolation feet)
EliteScreens Sable 120 inch screen
HTPC, PS5, Nvidia Shield Pro
Logitech Harmony Elite

Was going to ask how far that beam is from the screen?

I'd move the sofa up so the side is against the beam, throw a high sofa table behind the sofa with a few bar stools.

Or, put a love seat up there and make a small riser for the sofa behind it. Could put the riser up against the back of the beam.

Either way, seems like you could definitely move the sofa up from the back wall.

Nice setup overall

My first impression was also that the seating seems really far back but it may be an illusion.

Update: So I got rid of the new sofa that I got after building the home theater. It was okay to sit on for one or two hours but not longer movie /tv sessions.

After researching a lot I finally narrowed my search to Valencia Oslo and Valencia Tuscany seats. Went to Eastporters, tried them both and found the Oslo to be more comfortable and placed the order. They were in stock and got the order in 2 weeks. So far it's been a month and I can say, these are one of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat on. No tiredness, aches, fatigue even after sitting all day on them. Very happy with the purchase.

Thank you :D
The room is not big as it may look in the pictures, and the support beam is far away and doesn't interfere at all. I actually thought making a riser but the roof is too low due to hvac ducts and room would've felt too crowded.

I got the new Valencia Oslo seats and moved them a feet away from the wall. The surrounds sounds much better now.

Is there a reason you have your seating... in probably the worst place you could choose, acoustically speaking?

Any further, or gets too close to the screen and I could easily see the pixels. Like I said before, the room is not big enough as it looks in the pictures. I've tried multiple seating positions and there wasn't any difference - 2 feet from the wall (current) or 4 feet away from the wall. Plus the bass response is much better with current seating position.

What did you like better about the Oslo than the Tuscany loveseat? I have no way to sit in them before purchasing.
The mid section on Tuscany (where the pattern is) was a bit stiff for me. I'm 5'10, 185lbs and back wasn't pushing the cushion enough. Oslo is not as stiff as Tuscany, i guess because it has one extra layer of padding on it. I would say both are 10/10 on comfort scale, it just comes down to personal preference if you have to pick one. You can't go wrong with either of them. Plus the Oslo looks more premium in person, Tuscany is very generic looking.

Nice. I rotate my room 90 degrees and ended up moving my sofa away from the wall. The foot or so of space definitely helps out the rear surrounds.
