I am a relative newcomer to current audio systems. I have a 15 year old Onkyo Integra 8067 80 watt per channel integrated amp in my den powering a pair of Polk SDA 2A speakers. I love the speakers, but I agree with most reviewers....they could use a subwoofer.

The integrated amp has no subwoofer output, just outputs for 2 sets of speakers, with the option of powering one or both sets at a time.

I want to add an SVS 25-31 sub. If I am going to use the "B" outputs for the subwoofer, do I need the powered PCi sub, or can I use the unpowered CS sub? I know I can run the "A" outputs through the sub first and then to the speakers, but again, can I use an unpowered sub, or would it be better to use a powered one?

You will need the powered (PCi) sub. Your amp doesn't have enough power to drive the sub, never mind your speakers + the sub.

When you connect a powered sub to speaker outputs, the sub is just using that to get the audio signal. It won't actually be powering the sub.
