20min into the LOST episode, the light output got dark... It still running as normal, but there are no high voltage, and no signs of any lit phospor...

When turning on, there is no high voltage "sparkling"....and no error on the diagnostic LED's on the control board.

Could this be an HDM problem, or defective HVPS?

Hello

Reseat the HDM and pad the sleeve cover to press up firm against the board if ceiling mounted. I have HVPSs here if you need one, e.mail me.

Hmmm, I'm no expert but try re-seating and clean all contacts on the boards as well as the LVPS and HVPS. but curt palme could help you more. Also i saw a set of HVPS and LVPS for sale on the display's for sale forum here.

Thanks Tim, I will check more on the HDM. One of the coils on it are broken, but it has worked for years as is.

Will test some more, and see if I can borrow spares from another Quee her in town..

I put heatshrink tubing over the form. That strengthens it and holds it in place. I'm sure that's not the problem though. Swap out the HVPS first, then the HDM.

swapped out the HVPS several times, checked the HDM (and used superglue to attach the coil) swapped the HDM daughter board and checked the HDM for defects...

Still no high voltage. There are some glow on the back of each tube, so there are some power to the neck boards.

Opened the HVPS today, and the fuse was blown.

Replaced the fuse, and it got blown when PJ got power...

Are there any parts on the HVPS that should need special attention?

Replace the HVPS. A blowing fuse means that the MOSFETS are shorted. THose are hard to find, but any Spellman supply that has the MOSFETS blown also has an internal problem in the sealed silicone section that cannot be repaired. I've swapped out MOSFETS in about 10 Spellman supplies, and they've all blown again. I have HVPS if you need one.
