I have the pioneer SD-641HD5 (1st generation HDTV 16:9) hooked via the Y, Pr, Pb inputs from a Sony DVP-NS700 DVD player. Everything works fine in interlaced mode, but the progressive mode looks like vertical bands rolling down the picture in a garbled picture. Any help with this problem is greatly appreciated!

Had a similar problem with my year-2000 Philips, with the resolution outlined here . (Sorry, that year-2000 thread won't come up, although another year-2000 DVD-forum thread cross-linking it does appear.) The fix involved a new module under warranty. If it's not something like this, all I could suggest is trying all possible menu settings. Perhaps there's one, for example, to switch off DVD 3:2 pulldown. -- John

Also, your set specs say two sets of component inputs. On my Philips, a 480p DVD component signal into the component DVD input won't work. It's meant for 480i. The image is doubled on screen (split down the middle since the set's built-in doubler is attempting to double an already doubled input.)

But feeding a 480p DVD signal input into my HD component connections, which can also be used for a 1080i digital tuner or computer signal, works okay. -- John
